Hey all.
We are working on getting some new contestants and should have some newcomers joining the fray shortly.
In the meantime I thought I’d share some insight into the websites traffic so far.
Yesterday was our biggest day so far with 620 pageviews. Not exactly staggering but the site does show a good growth rate so far for a new domain and a contest that just begun. Overall we have had 3517 pageviews so far.
Some other indications that the search engines are becoming aware of our presence are;
Spam- Our askimet spam filter is now filtering through the daily grind of about 30-60% spam comments that get posted everyday.
Searh terms- Congradulations to Chris Lau for ranking 2nd on google for “ubuntu vs windows 7″ a mighty good search term. the Google blog search results , Chris post Linux vs Windows 7 in the Enterprise
Marketing – We have stepped up promotion in our newsletters magazines and web ads to gather more contestants and exposure to more readers.
Quality- As we learned last year well written, relevant content and frequent writing are the key to having your blog succeed and not cast into the lower regions of the internet. This contest for the last 3 years has brought quality content and conversation. You can have all of the marketing, SEO analysis and optimization you like but if you don’t have quality content you’ll eventually be left in the dark.
Other interesting factoids can be found in the StatPress button on the bottom left of your WordPress admin menu.
