My Ideal ipad!

So much has been written about the recently launched ipad I was reluctant to share this.

In my humble opinion, the initial iPad devices missed the mark.  I am also confident that Apple will most likely release a version that does hit the mark

For me that mark is seeing the iPad as more than an advanced e-reader.  I see it as a real device that could bring a revolution to web video conference capabilities such as Skype. By supporting applications like Skype which to my limited understanding it can not do currently, but also add a front facing camera to enable video conference features.

Whether it’s Skype, iLinc, Live Meeting, Lotus Live, and so on the fact is there are already solutions out there that could be leveraged with the right device, the iPad could be that device.

If I could acquire iPads in this configuration it would make for easy roll out to branch office for a mobile video conference enabled platform.

If it had that, I will take 8 of them please.

Thanks for listening…

I thought the name was a bad start to this product, and that it looked like a giant phone. iPad was a hyped for at least 5 years, and many are already talking about a version 2 of the product.

Initial sales were very strong this past weekend. 300k or so? I firmly believe the app store and everything that channel has to offer will give appeal to the iPad.

Do you think we’ll see an attachable Cam for the iPAD? Perhaps that would solve the conferencing and Skype deficiencies.

What will the iPhone OS4.0 doe for iPAD ?

Do you think we’ll be able to “tether” our iPhones to the iPad ? How about running the iPad through a 3G iPhone plan?

I bet we’ll see some innovations before long.

I do agree however that we’ll probably see a second version (much like we did with the iPhone) that does more and has more memory.

Chris and Don, Thanks to both of you for your comments. We all already know that a new OS is now announced, that a version 2 (smaller for sure) to compete directly with e readers will be out, but I firmly believe that a new more powerful device will emerge before Christmas selling season 2010.

Don, I believe that Apple did not support some specific application need in order to run Skype was the issue, more so than just the camera issue.

Don, I do believe 3rd party may have ad on camera options? But Apple is always focused on design, etc so I suspect the camera feature will be embedded in new versions to keep it’s clean lines.

Chris, it is amazing that 300K people wanted to be the first!!! I would if someone wants me to try one ;-)

Anyways, I know that in the speeds and feeds space related to these devices, I am not in that league so I will stay focused on solutions and allow others to help me understand how what they want to sell me, can help solve real problems.
