The first email I viewed this morning on my blackberry was from an old acquaintance, Shane Shick, who once again asked if I was interested in attempting to be any sort of competition to blogging champion from last year, Chris Lau.
I do not blog near the ferocity that Chris does, but I hope I add quality posts based upon my experiences as a practising (still trying to get it right) IT executive at an SMB firm located in Winnipeg, Canada.
By day I am the CIO and Social Business Leader, so you can expect messages related to technology, social media (or social business as I prefer to call it as it is about growing the business), about life (I have 2 teenagers), and of course anything interesting that our Canadian Politicians may say during the current Federal election (although I suspect that will be a short topic at best, #just saying).
I have the pleasure of doing some travel during this time, I anticipate that I will get exposure to a number of new ideas that I will share with you. Sharing with you helps me think about the topic, and as such it allows me to understand it better. If it is about a technology, this sharing helps me conceptualize what the technology enables, because business considering technology for technology sake is so old school and useless. What good does a quad core processor do for me, nothing. But a system capable of doubling the production capacity speaks more to a business outcome than the technology that enables it.
I hope that gives you a sense of what I am about and what you can expect when Blog Idol gets underway.
Thanks for listening . . .
