Greetings, blogidol contestants. Research in Motion this morning launched an usual contest on twitter, leading to the Playbook launch on April 19th. Is this advertising strategy bleeding edge, or viral?
Blogidolers, be aware that this post will not count for ComputerWorld’s own blogidol.ca contest. I was last year’s winner, but this year’s judge.
My contest entry to Blackberry’s playbook launch goes like this: I need to follow blackberry, reply to blackberry (@blackberry), post why I nominate myself, ask my twitter followers and readers of this entry to RT – or retweet – that entry.
Whatever happened to filling out a contest form and answering a skill-testing question?
So, the purpose of this entry is to ask for your vote. Is there a conflict of interest? Will you get favorited for voting for me, even though I am a judge?
No. But what you will gain is insight into Blackberry’s approach to marketing, gain ideas on how to use twitter to promote your entries for the blogidol contest, and potentially send this judge to Blackberry’s elite playbook launch party.
